A nice full week-end!
10/08/2006
I've done so many things last weekend that I don't know where to start!!
First, I bought a bicycle! Actually no, I am renting it for 3 months, for only 5000yen (about 50 dollars). It's not very good but it allows me to hang out, go shopping etc and that's enough. I'll upload pictures soon. I have no padlock but it's not really useful in Japan. Saturday, I spent the afternoon in in town, leaving my bicycle everytime I was entering a shop. And even today, it stayed the whole day at the station...without any problem.
This is one of the great aspects of Japan: tons of little details that make you feel safe. I'll have opportunities to write about that again.
For example, I love seeing shops with no anti theft system (note that it's not the case for all of them, just some), even some big department stores, notably the Takashiyama I was mentioning in this post, in Nagoya station...
I've also bought a new gimmick, another kind of denshi jisho...
Not to mention the good restaurants I was taken to this week-end. Sushi on friday evening (the best I've ever had!), great tonkatsu on saturday, soba for today's lunch and okonomiyaki tonight! I will introduce these specialties in later posts...
Besides, I've made a couple friends and today, I went to Gifu prefecture to visit small villages in the mountains, Here are some pictures:

On the way back, we stopped to eat okonomiyaki:

Then went to a game center to play some DDR, as I found one guy who loves the game as much as I do...
