In Japan, one traditionally sends wishes cards for the New Year. I know it's not specific to Japan, but it's a well followed custom here with a strong meaning to it...

I'll make it short today, don't want to write too much on Christmas day. Christmas doesn't have any meaning in Japan, so quite naturally it is celebrated in a totally different way than in western countries. Instead of being an opportunity to gather the whole family, it is just another Valentine's day. Restaurants are filled with couples and it's tough to get a seat without a reservation...but we somehow managed to!
Besides I'm on vacation from the 28 to the 6, here are my plans:
- get my new apartment in order
- spend the new year with my relatives in Hita, on Kyushu
- catch up with some of the posts I haven't had time to write yet
